Identifying behavior change techniques
Together we develop a quantitative questionnaire. This is like a Knowledge-Attitudes-Practice (KAP) survey but contains the great diversity of behavioral factors included in the RANAS model of behavior change.
Using the data from this survey, we perform a doer/non-doer analysis. This analysis reveals the behavioral factors in which those that do the behavior differ from those that don’t. These are the factors that have to be changed to alter behavior. Using the RANAS catalog of behavior change techniques, we select the techniques that are known to change the behavioral factors identified in the doer/non-doer analysis. This procedure ensures that you only implement the techniques you really need and that will surely change your target behavior.
